    Sashimi is so aweome!

    There's a reason this little restaurant gets hundreds of rave reviews.

    Gotta try their Chirashi Deluxe.  Not only their fish quality is excellent, their rice is so delicious.  Personal opinion: it's better than Blue Fin in Newport Beach.

    Love their grilled yellowtail cheek (market price).  WORTH IT!!

    Very reasonable price.

    Very good portion.

    About 10-12 sushi bar seats, and about 6-8 tables (don't quote me on this).  My point is, it's not a big place.

    Gets busy during lunch and dinner times.  Parking can be painful in this plaza and you likely will have to park in the adjacent Mitsuwa market.

    To be completely honest, the fish wasn't bad! It was good, but it was expensive. Which is why i'm iffy about this place.

    I got the sushi platter #2 and it was around $30? The fish was quality, my favorite was the blue toro.

    The avocado roll was good too.

    With just those items, it came out to be over $40... It was kind of ridiculous to me but what can you say, you're in costa mesa. I went here only because Anjin was a long wait.

    It's a super small sushi restaraunt, very intimate and seems like it could be a nice joint for locals.

    If I were loaded with money, i'd definitely come back for the fresh sashimi. But I don't think that will be anytime soon.

    Great experience here from the food to the service! A true hole in the wall - slightly pricey but reasonable for the quality you're getting!

    //CONTEXT//
    Came here as a party of two on I believe a Saturday night around 6/6:15 pm. We were seated
    Immediately at the bar

    //ENVIRONMENT//
    Very simple yet Japanese influence designs. Not much seating, some small tables and sushi bar. Feels intimate.

    //FOOD//
    * soft shell tempura had roll - this is a must have! They mush the soft shell crab and add this mayo base, creamy sauce. Delicious and a must have
    * sashimi salad - this was also very delicious! This cuts of sushi with a tasty house sauce! Plenty of variety in fish and fresh
    * Ango special - their sushi special. Comes with a variety of premium fish - thought this was a decent price since it included sweet shrimp, bluefin toro, etc.
    * Blue crab hand roll - another must have! Delicious and fresh. Seaweed was crisp.

    //PRICE//
    Everything with tip cafe out to be about $75. Definitely pricey but I'd say worth it

    //SERVICE//
    Exceptional! Everyone kept refilling waters when needed and was attentive

    //OVERALL//
    Will be back for my sushi splurge

    The only redeeming quality of this place is their food.. if you ever get it. Came here a second time to try and see if their service was any better, but it was worse. The place was empty yet tracking someone down to take an order was like pulling teeth. They just stood behind the counter staring blankly down. My girl didn't even get her food,as the server forgot to put it in, and my order was wrong.

    I was able to come here for lunch one day during the week. I had training nearby and thought that it would be great to try it out. I was so happy that I did! I had the Ango, which is the chef's special. Every piece was SO fresh and so good. My plate had eel, tamago, spanish mackrel, uni, ikura, scallop, sweet shrimp, yellowtail, and toro for $26. It's a great deal! Eight pieces of sushi and the tamago.

    I had to come back with my boyfriend. We ended up ordering off the sushi menu. We had the yellowtail, amberjack, scallop, salmon with bonito flakes, sweet shrimp, blue fin tuna, toro, and rainbow roll. The chef was also sent us a complimentary plate! I'm not sure what it was, but it was delicious! All the sushi was delicious. We both prefered the salmon without the bonito flakes (also has onions on top). The toro this time was sooo fatty. A little too fatty, but still enjoyable. All the fish was fresh and so soft.

    I definitely want to come back in the future. I highly recommend the Ango if you like nigiri!
